WESTPOLE ufficializza il suo ingresso in Gaia-X. WESTPOLE è “Day-1 Member” del progetto European Data Infrastracture Gaia-X, nato per affermare uno standard europeo di gestione e accesso ai dati basato su sicurezza e rispetto della privacy.
Il 18 e 19 novembre 2020 ha avuto luogo il “SUMMIT: il vertice paneuropeo di Gaia-X” organizzato dai fondatori di Gaia-X per far meglio comprendere natura, portata del progetto e obiettivi.
L’adesione al progetto è stata aperta a tutte le imprese europee interessate all’iniziativa, attivata da Germania e Francia, che punta alla costituzione e allo sviluppo di un cloud federato UE, una piattaforma europea per definire criteri e standard comuni di gestione dei dati e dei servizi in cloud, in linea con il concetto di sovranità tecnologica europea.
Diverse aziende strategiche si sono già alleate in Gaia-X: sono 29 quelle dall’Italia, che è il terzo Paese per adesione dietro a Germania e Francia.
Come si evince dalla lista di aziende componenti il Consorzio, gli aderenti italiani provengono dai settori più disparati e il loro stesso contributo sarà differente a seconda delle competenze: si va dalla difesa all’energia, dai data center alla fibra alla sicurezza informatica.

Sebbene Gaia-X sia stato stabilito in Europa, la sua rilevanza è globale, in quanto fornisce una risposta alla domanda cruciale dell’imminente era digitale: come creare effetti di rete in un mondo aperto e decentralizzato non controllato da intermediari, ma dove ognuno è un sovrano digitale. Gaia-X mira a riconquistare la libertà di Internet senza perdere i vantaggi che abbiamo ottenuto nel corso degli anni.

WESTPOLE is officially “Day-1 Member” of the European Data Infrastructure Gaia-X project, created to define a European standard for data access and management, based on security and privacy.
On 18 and 19 November 2020, the “SUMMIT: the pan-European summit of Gaia-X” took place to better understand the scope of the project and the objectives.
Participation in the project has been open to all European companies interested in the initiative, activated by Germany and France, which aims at the establishment and development of an EU federated cloud, a European platform to define common criteria and standards for data management and cloud services, in line with the concept of European technological sovereignty.
Strategic companies have already allied themselves in Gaia-X: 29 are from Italy, which is the third country by membership behind Germany and France.
As can be seen from the list of companies making up the Consortium, the Italian members come from the most disparate sectors and their own contribution will be different depending on their skills: ranging from defense to energy, from data centers to fiber to IT security. WESTPOLE is proud to be among these.

Although Gaia-X has been established in Europe, its relevance is global, as it provides an answer to the crucial question of the impending digital age: how to create network effects in an open and decentralized world not controlled by intermediaries, but where everyone is a digital ruler. Gaia-X aims to regain the freedom of the internet without losing the benefits we have gained over the years.
